House Update

I mentioned that two Fridays ago we had our home inspection on our second house.

It seemed to have gone well while we were there. But, as expected with old homes, there were a few issues, mainly with the roof. Also, apparently radon in our area is quite high, so it was not a surprise when the report came back at a 9.0 (the highest that is safe is a 4.0).

I met with our realtor last Tuesday after work to decide what we now wanted to ask for since we saw what the problems were.

First. Radon thinggie (not sure what it is, but I do know that it takes the radon out of the home).
Second. We wanted a few parts of the roof fixed or at least checked out by a licensed roofer.
Third. Check out the electrical board that cased the fire alarms to go off (oops!)

The hubby and I have been in constant contact with our realtor who has been keeping us updated on all of the goings on. The sellers had 3 roofers check it out, and got 3 estimates. They also had an electrician see what was going on with the electric baseboard.

And this weekend when the hubby was away, I heard their final offer.

They have agreed to install the radon thinggie, have the electric baseboard fixed, and credit us a HUGE lump sum toward a BRAND SPANKING NEW roof!

We are so excited! I feel as if I can't let myself get too too TOO excited yet because of the huge let down from the first house, but things are really looking good!

Keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed that all stays this good and we will have our first home!
