To celebrate the first day of spring hubby and I went to look at our first house.
I found the house on realtor.com and had a really good feeling about it. It is located in Nazareth a.k.a. my dream house location, in a nice neighborhood with a great school district. It is a single home with a fenced in backyard with a pool! It is close to the major highways and shopping centers. And, most importantly it is priced just right.
The day after I found it I stalked it after work, and definitely got my hopes up.
I could already see us moving in there and running around the neighborhood.
I talked my hubby into letting me contact our realtor and scheduling a date to go check it out. The sooner the better was thought because for the price and the location, this house was going to go fast!
So after a few e-mails back and forth with our realtor we met tonight at 6:00.
I could barely contain my excitement as we drove down the street arriving at the house.
Our realtor opened the door and we were insistently hit with such a strong smell like I've never smelled before. It was a mix between cat/dog and mold/mildew. I wish I could say that the smell was the worst part but it sure wasn't!
The floors were a mess! The hardwood was warped and lifted in areas. One room was concrete because it looked as if there was carpeting that was ripped out.
The basement had horrible water damage; there were watermarks on the wall up to my waist.
The kitchen cabinets were scratched and totally out dated along with the appliances.
The bedrooms were small and there was carpet in the master that was absolutely disgusting, I would never step foot on it without shoes on!
Even the ceilings seemed to have something funky going on with it!
The house is a foreclosure, and I can't imagine who was living in that house before the bank took it. It looked like the family had children and I find it appalling that anyone, especially kids, were living in such horrible conditions.
Needless to say, we will NOT be making an offer on that house. Back to the drawing board we will go....
omg...at first reading, i was beyond words excited for you guys...and now, uhhh, so disappointed!! what a let down!! one down, and one house closer to your dream house=)
